ICYMI the U.S. Men’s National Team defeated Germany Wednesday 2-1. Yes, that’s right. The Germans, defending World Cup champions and ranked no. 1 in the world. With the scored tied in the 87th minute, U.S. striker Bobby Wood fired a left-footed rocket to lift the Americans to victory. Bobby freaking Wood. Yeah, the same guy who scored in the 90th to beat the Netherlands 4-3 last Friday.
I mean, just look at that laser. Great first touch, shot from outside the box. I don’t care how he plays in the next few years, this kid has near-Jeremy Lin level equity now. Sign him up for the next World Cup. Sorry Jozy Altidore, but Bobby Wood has arrived.
Let’s relive the Dutch-killing strike while we’re at it.
No better time to score your first international goal than with a game-winner in the 90th minute to beat the Dutch for the first time in American history. Please tell me Bobby Wood makes the Asian bow part of his permanent goal-celebration repertoire.
If you need more Wood in your life right now, I’ll leave you with this. It’s really the only other video he has. We expect big things from you, Bobby.
